This page is dedicated to the ones we've lost.

"They take part of our soul when they leave us and keep it safe for when we one day join them."

-Sabra

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Woody had a rough start in life with numerous trips to Cornell for Potomac Horse Fever, colic surgery, then a non surgical colic.  He rose out of it all by placing third at Devon this year in tough company.
On the trailer ride to Saugerties, he was stricken with another colic episode, and went straight to the vet clinic upon arrival.  We worked on him all through the night trying everything short of surgery, but his colon was displaced to the degree that all measures were exhausted, and he was euthanized in the morning.  You will be missed boogerboy!  Thanks to Kaitlin for all the help with him throughout the night.

Mandarin lived a long and prosperous life.  I don't believe there was anything he couldn't do exceptionally well.  He was my "horse of a lifetime" and I still miss him every day.

Amanda was Mandarin's last foal and a beautiful girl.  She contracted Potomic Horse Fever and tragically died within 48 hours - the morning we planned to take her to Cornell.  She left us way too soon.

"Eric", aka "The Little Prince" was also lost way too early.  In the fall of 04, we were hit by the fallout of several hurricanes which left standing water.  Even though he was innoculated, Eric contracted EEE and went into a coma overnight.  He had a wonderful temperament and placed well at every show he went to as a youngster.  Click on his picture to go to his scrapbook.

All Annie ever wanted was to have another baby.  She suffered a massive heart attack in her pasture a few hours before the vet was to arrive to breed her.  It was a terrible and shocking loss.
